2014 Project Life Title Page

I attended a 12 hour crop on January 18 and I didn't get too much done. I met some really nice ladies though so that made up for my generally unproductive day.

I did however, get my title page done for 2014, the first week and a double page layout completed!

It is my preference to not use any photos on my title page.  I love this colour scheme!  I have officially used all of this Kaisercraft collection that I can.

Week 21 of Project Life (2013) - Embossing

It's Team Project Life at Stuck On U Sketches this week!  The challenge is embossing.  Wow, my scrap cave is all organized and put away.  The only problem is that I didn't know where I 'organized' my cuttle bug folders to.  So after opening every drawer I have, I found them.  Then I forgot which plates to use in the darned machine.  Apparently it's been too long!

Anyway, on to my week 21 spread.  As I mentioned it has been too long and the paper ripped a bit when I put it through.  However, I actually like the white poking through the green paper of my date card, it's messy and distressed looking so I kept it just as it was.

The "rules" for the prize:

All you need to do is join ANY challenge during the month
to have your name put in (sketch, die cut or project life) and of course be a follower
of our blog! Easy and gets some crafting done! Perfect!
Blog candy winners will be announced once ALL the challenges in the
month come to a close. So January blog candy winner will be
announced on February 14th!
North America only for this prize, thank you.

Lasting Memories #175: One Little Word/Resolution

If you participate in One Little Word originated by Ali Edwards then by now you have chosen your word for 2014.  At Lasting Memories this week we are asking you to share your one word or your resolution if you make one (or more!).

This is the first time I have chosen a word and it took me a very long time to do so. I have selected 'today' as my word, because I am such planner, mainly because we are so busy as a family of five. Today is significant because I need to learn to live in the moment. When we went to the island on the day the picture was taken, it was a spur of the moment completely unplanned event. We had such a good time together. We watched the salmon run and we walked the whole pathway with lots of stops for photo ops. We all can't wait to do it again soon. So for 2014 I will try and focus on today.

I used this sketch from My Scraps & More sketches.

Lasting Memories #174: Snowmen!

This week at Lasting Memories, we are asking you to use snowmen on your layout.  Snowmen photos, snowmen diecuts, or any other way your creativity leads you!

I thought for sure with living in the north I would have snowmen photos and I do, they are just already scrapped or waiting to be printed.  So I scrapped these pictures that I have had in my pile for a bit and added a snowman card to it.

I am shocked that I did a double page layout, I have been doing singles for so long!  It was a nice change though and I see more in my future.

I saw the sketch at ScrapMuch? and knew it was the right one for me for these pictures.  I'm also linking up with Kristi B. and her work challenge - Chill.  Red Carpet Studio is having a snow challenge as well!

Week 20 of Project Life: Add Vellum

Stuck On U Sketches is back with another challenge! I will admit I had to dig deeply into my stash to find some vellum, but I did and it matched my paper choices!

Now if you are wondering where I used this vellum, it's under the SPRING that I cut out using my silhouette cameo.

Lasting Memories #173 - Scraplifting time!

Our new challenge at Lasting Memories this week is a fun one!

Each of the DT members spent some time hopping through the DT blogs and found one layout that we wanted to lift.

I found the perfect layout for me on Haven's blog!  Here is the layout I based mine on.

This layout was just the one I needed as it will go perfectly beside another that I have created earlier!  Here is my lifted layout.

Here is what the two pages will look like in the album.

Lasting Memories #172: A sketch with a twist!

Welcome to the first challenge of 2014 with Lasting Memories!

The task at hand is to use the sketch courtesy of the now closed blog - 2 Broke Girls challenges - except we have an extra little add in there for you. You need to use your favourite embellishment on your layout!

I'm not entirely sure if stitching counts as an embellishment or a technique? However, it's my "go to" thing for my projects! I crumpled up the paper strips and the background piece so much that the adhesive would not work. I have glue dots back there holding things down and it just wasn't enough. That's the second reason I have stitched the photo down.  It's certainly not going anywhere!

The photo is blurry, but I had to scrap it. My middle girl just can't stand straight for a picture. She has to pose in some way. This was taken with my hubby's old BB and the camera was not the greatest. I also did something that I have never done before and that is to use a hidden tag that tells about my middle daughter's trip with my husband in May of 2011.

I'm also linking this up with Two Scrapbook Friends and their January Crafty Challenge: Distressing!

sketch N scrap

What a way to welcome in the new year, this is my first reveal with Sketch ~N~ Scrap!!  I'm thrilled to be part of this team, have you seen the talented ladies involved?  Wow!!!

My oldest really loves to cook.  Usually my husband would cut up whatever needed it, but this time he stood close and let her do it all herself.  She was unaware of the effect cutting onions would have on her.  The poor thing had tears running down her face and she was not too impressed with her papa!  She made a roast pork with potatoes, carrots and onions.  It was delicious!

Here's the sketch we were given to work with:

You will have all month to play with this sketch and the one following on January 15th.  Hope to see you play along!
