Life in Details - September challenge!

Welcome to Life in Details and our first challenge.  We are 100% project life based and I can't wait to see what you do with these inspiring challenges!  You will have a full month to complete your project and link up with us.

Our first challenge is a recipe one.  Next to sketches, these are my favourite challenges!

So get out your apron and get ready, get set, get creative!

Create a 4x6 card that includes:

  • ribbon or washi tape
  • flair
  • bling
  • chipboard or wood veneers
  • 2 different patterned papers
Here is my little card....and you can safely assume that from the colours I used and the name of my blog, I have girls!!!

I will post my spread in a few weeks, so you can see just how it fit into my week.  I am a week by week project lifer - albeit a fairly new one...I am only 9 weeks in.  As always, I am playing catch up! I'm only about 6 years behind in scrapping!

Week 8 of Project Life - Use 3 pieces of patterned paper

This week at Stuck On U Sketches we are asking you to use at least 3 different prints or patterned papers on your fabulous spread!

The high point of this week was going down south to see my BFF!!  Was a fantastic trip and so much fun!

Lasting Memories #154 - Diva

I bought the White Texture effect by Martha Stewart long ago for this challenge.  At Lasting Memories this week we are asking you to try something new.  I have been wanting to try this out for a while and this gave me the perfect opportunity!

I used it with a Heidi Swapp template and I think, know I will be using this stuff again!  Thanks to a scrappy friend who told me I could use a heat gun to aid in drying!!

Out of our three girls, this is the diva - although her little sister isn't far behind her.

I used Cupcakes by Design #17 from 2 Broke Girls for this layout.

Lasting Memories #153 - How you've grown (and some more exciting news!)

I tell you this challenge at Lasting Memories is really neat!  It makes you look back on your first layout and see just how far you've come as a scrapper.

So, I had to dig out my daughter's album and take a picture of the very first layout I created. (roughly 2006). Her little angry face is, to this day, one of my favourite of her ever taken! She still makes the same face. Yes, really!

Here is my 'look at me now' page.  Stitching, banners and lots of pattern papers and layers!  Six years makes a lot of difference!

My 'now' layout is one I created for the 2 Broke Girls design team call.  I am really happy to say that I am on the team!  Look for my first reveal with them in September and a really fun hop to go with it!

Blog Candy winner!

I had 7 lovely followers of my blog leave lovely comments on my layout for the Lasting Memories scavenger hunt.

They are:

  • Kimberly Clark
  • Tracey
  • Rachelle Olaridge
  • Carmen
  • Barbara Greenberg
  • Michele
  • Elizabeth
Here is what the computer told me

Generate a random number between 1 and 7 = 2

So Tracey, congratulations, you have 7 days to contact me via email located at the top right of this page with your info so I can get this out to you!

  1. I love this Darcy!! The misted squares with the stitching and the titlework!! Awesome page!!

RCS#50 - Mystic River

This is my last reveal with Red Carpet Studio.  I've had fun and hope to continue playing along with the new team!

Thanks so much ladies!

This week we are featuring the movie "Mystic River" so we'd like to see some mist!

Our generous sponsor is the Cutting Cafe and they are offering 3 SVG sets to the winner of the challenge!

I used the Mini Honeycomb template from The Crafter's Workshop with Mustard iridescent spritz from Heidi Swapp in the top right hand corner on my layout.

I used the sketch from Practical Scrappers for this layout.

Embellish Me Happy Back To School Blog Hop

Thank you so much for joining our first ever back to school blog hop on Embellish Me Happy. My name is Darcy and I am a DT member on EMH. You just left Paula's blog and wow was that challenge great! If you for any reason arrived on this site from anywhere else other than the blog listed above please click the link and start from the beginning at Marlene's blog. There you will be starting the blog hop from the beginning.
Here are a few rules for this blog hop this month:
  • The hop will run from August 13th - September 8th. You will upload your creations for my challenge on the Embellish Me Happy Blog Via In Linkz and name your challenge backtoschool numbers.
  • Please make sure your creation is uploaded by September 8th 12am EST.
  • All creations must be new and not be combined with any other challenges.
  • Please make sure you adhere to all the rules of this challenge, the general hop rules and the challenge rules.
  • You may participate in all challenges for the hop; you will get one entry point per challenge entered during the hop.
Now here is the fun part the challenge:  I chose numbers. School is all about numbers! This was my "medium" daughter's second year of school. She attended Jardin which is the french version of Senior Kindergarten. She just loves school - well, really I think she just really loves her friends.  She could probably do without the school part. Just wait, she starts getting homework this year!

To create the title, I used the sketch pen in my Cameo and then coloured it in with Broken China Distress Stickles.

I found this cool border on the Silhouette store called 'Miss Kate school borders'. It matched my needs perfectly!  I added a few stickers, some stitching, some of her favourites and it was done!

Now that you have the challenge from my blog please head on over to Esther's  blog.

I used this sketch from My Scraps and More Sketches for this layout.

Week 7 of Project Life - Arrows

Moving along with this whole Project Life thing!  I am having lot of fun AND using my silhouette cameo for these projects.

At Stuck On U Sketches, we are looking for you to use an arrow on your spread. Another easy challenge, it's probably something you reach for anyway, so share it with us!

Each weekly spread I do, becomes my favourite.  It is so neat to see where we were months ago and what we were doing.  I hope next year, I will be caught up!

Good Stuff, was cut with my Cameo.  The file is called 'arrow words - life' and it has a few different words attached to arrows.  Completely perfect for Project Life!

This file is called '4x6 arrow journaling card'.  I'm on such a negative cut kick right now, I love it!

I fussy cut the hears out of a sheet of pp and then just cut the love title with an offset background.

My title card is a file called 'xoxo hearts & circles cards'.  There is another cute card included as well!

I'm linking this up with Week 2 Week as well.  They are asking us to create our own journalling card.  Easy Peasy!

Lasting Memories Scavenger Hunt Birthday Blog Hop!

Hi everyone!! It is PARTY time at Lasting Memories today! We're celebrating Karen's special day with a "Scavenger Hunt Birthday Hop!" It's her 40th birthday tomorrow and what better way to celebrate than to have a hop in blogland! Before we get started, you better get yourself a pen and paper because you're going to need it! There are 10 blogs in the hop and each person has chosen an element to use on her layout. Your job is to find all 10 elements, write them down and choose FIVE to include in your layout! Be sure to keep your eyes open because we have sponsors as well as DT members giving goodies away. You may have to do a little something more for the DT candy, so be sure to read every post! Sound like fun?? We think so!!! Ok, lets get to it! You should have arrived here from Charity's blog and if you're just coming by, start at Lasting Memories because you don't want to miss a thing! You'll also find the master hop list there too. For my layout today, I chose mist for my element.

I used my cameo to cut a template with the squares and then misted over them.  I thought they still looked a little plain, so I hand stitched around each square.

I also cut my title into the page and cut the chevrons.  Keeping up with my promise to use the machine more - that was three times on this layout alone!

Since my element is mist, I thought it fitting to give away a 6x6 template.  I've also got a 6x6 paper pad up for grabs!  Just let me know you are a follower of my blog in the comments and I will do the random draw at the end of this hop!

And guess what! I'm also showing off one of our sponsors as well! I am promoting Floppy Lattes Digital Designs who is giving away $10.00 gift certificate to one lucky winner!

All you have to do is complete the hop, enter your layout using FIVE elements you've found a long the way and be sure to comment that you've done everything!

Thanks so much for joining us! You're next stop is Denise's blog!

LM #150 - Stars and Stripes

Lasting Memories is featuring stars and stripes this week!

This is the first meeting of my 1st and 2nd daughters.  My oldest was so happy to have a sister.  She didn't want to hand her back to anyone!

I used sketch 14 from 2 Broke Girls for this layout.

RCS #48 - "Lilo and Stitch"

Do you love stitching on your projects?  Then this challenge is for you!  This week at Red Carpet Studio we are stitching - real or faux - in honour of the movie "Lilo and Stitch".

And our sponsor for the week is Designs on Cloud 9.

I used my cameo to cut a negative title.  I just love the way this looks!

I used the sketch at Life. Paper. Scrapbook. for this layout.
