Shelby's sketch challenge at TSF!

Shelby chose a sketch from Scrapbooks Etc. to get the creative juices flowing.  It worked for me!

Here is my layout.  Not sure if you can see in the picture of Laura in the bottom left corner.  There is a bubble on her nose from the bubble machine.  I love this picture!

And here is the sketch.  I guess I'm just not that big on embellishments.  I don't have bling :P

Come and join the forum at Two Scrapbook Friends if you'd like to play along!

My Crazy Love obsession continues.

Sketch support has a new sketch!  It's Card #3 and I used more of Bo Bunny's crazy love line again.  I just love it!

Oh, Saturday!

Today started like any other.  O got up and proceeded to wake the rest of us, at 6am!  I convinced her to let Dan and Laura sleep, but it was hard work on my part - threats of time outs if she went into the room!

Saturday is a busy day for us, with the girls dancing and then right to skating.  They now skate at the Cambridge Centre, which I can see being bad for my shopping urge.  Today I did pretty well, I spent less than 20$ and got O a pair of jeans, Laura a new shirt and a hat for Aubie.

We had lunch there after skating and Dan brought up the idea of getting their hair cut, since Laura has been complaining that her's is too long.  She can no longer make that complaint!  It is shorter than when she donated - and that was short enough.  They got the whole wash and cut treatment.  I think my girls might be a little high maintenance because they loved every minute of the pampering.

Aubie's new hat.  She actually leaves it on!
Laura getting her hair washed.  I thought she was going to fall asleep.

Oceane after her wash.  She told me to go away, she was getting washed.
Oceane is now the proud owner of bangs.  We love them!

1.27 Sketchy Thursdays.

I'm playing again this week with the Sketchy Thursdays blog.  They have great sketches and great prizes!

Here's the sketch:

And here's my version.  It's from a really nice (albeit very early) spring day in 2008.

I just love the way that Océane is peeking over the sling.  I can't believe it took me this long to do a layout, considering she just turned 3!

Little Red Wagon #65

The challenge this week was to use lace.  I don't have much in the way of lace, or ribbon for that matter, but I did find a bit to use.

Here is my card.  I didn't add a sentiment and I left the inside blank.  Maybe I will actually give this one to someone!

Click here to see the challenge and post your card!

What a great surprise!

I've been on a roll lately with scrapbooking.  I do not consider myself a card maker, but I saw this sketch on the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog and thought I would try it out.

The due date for submissions was last night, so I sent them my card and when I looked on the blog this morning I saw it!  This is my first time ever being shown on a professional blog!

Yes, I was pretty excited!!!  I love that it was my fav colour combo!  I love pink and brown together!!

Sh*t my kids ruined

I like looking at this blog because it makes me laugh.  Or sympathize.  There are lots of things on there that O has done, or done worse!  However, this picture came to mind and I submitted it  months ago.  Imagine my surprise when I went to see the new pictures today!

Something is happening to me!

Normally when I sit down at the computer, I have a list of places I check.  Facebook, email, the record, maybe PerezHilton and then I'm done.  Now I come straight to my blogger dashboard so I can see who has updated their blogs and I then go and visit each one.  Most of the blogs I follow are scrapbook related, and involve sketches and my favourite - giveaways!  I'm just really enjoying this hobby right now.  Discovering sketches is like turning on a light, amazing!  I will catch up.  Someday.

Sketch Support

I was browsing their blog this evening and found their "one page #1" sketch and wanted to do it right away!

This strikes me as funny.  Hot pink for making Santa's cookies!!

I've had these pictures for a very long time and the little baking embellishments as well.  I'm glad this one is in her book (OK, who am I kidding? It's been added to the pile on top of their books).  I'm not sure if this one will even fit in her book, those cookie cutter shapes are really thick!

Sketchy Thursdays blog

I found this blog thanks to a sketch challenge at TSF.  Every Thursday they offer a new sketch to play with.  There is a weekly prize, however I'm just loving this new discovery of sketches.  Do they ever make scrapping easy.  I'm getting over my "sketches = cheating" feeling!  Here's my layout for this week's sketch.

I'm very behind in my scrapping and I think with the amount of sketches out there, I will hopefully be able to catch up at some point!
Thanks for looking!

PS...You can find the original sketch here.

little red wagon challenge #64

This is my first little red wagon challenge.  It's to make a one layer card, so something simple.

Here's what I came up with, since I have lots of pink scraps!

Another Two Scrapbook Friends challenge!

The challenge this month is put forth by DrJ.  She gave us this great sketch to provide some inspiration.

Two Scrapbook Friends - 6 for 6

This is a challenge hosted through their forum.  The host, Deanna, sends you 6 things in the mail and you have to create something with it.  I am pretty excited, I made my first artist trading card.  I would love to show it to you, but I'm saving it for the big reveal next week sometime!  It was so easy!
I can't even give you a sneak peek because they are so small, just 2.5 x 3.5 inches!  So stay tuned!

PJ Crop today!

After taking the girls to dance today, I got to Two Scrapbook Friends to participate in their First PJ Crop.  It was from 9-9, with me arriving around noon.  Last night I searched online for a few sketches to try.  I ordered all my photos the right size in the right orientation and this morning I was ready to go!  I ended up creating 5 double page layouts.  I feel that sketches are king of cheating (please, take it easy on me for saying that), but I think I am a convert.  It was so easy!

Last Monday, there was a cool sketch posted for the week's layout challenge and I wanted to make something.  I was still in the mood to scrap so when I came home tonight, I did this layout of Aubie and her 2nd year in the cup!

It finally happened.

I actually created a layout at home, with no one else here.  I'm normally more of a social scrapper, and go to a lot of crops because of this.  However, I was in the shower and I "saw" this layout in my head.  I've had this paper for years, purchased specifically for this picture of Laura and her new (in 2008) frog rain outfit.  After the girls went to bed, I came down to my scrap area and did this layout.  I really like it.  I am going to edit the picture to lighten it up so you can actually see the cute expression on her face.

I've been wondering about this service for awhile now, and unfortunately actually had reason to finally use it.  With my three year old being pretty sick and my spouse working down in Mexico, I decided to give them a try rather than drag her out to the store with me.  So on Sunday morning, I cranked up the laptop and surfed my way down the aisles of their virtual store.  They had everything I needed to buy and even stuff I didn't need to buy, but did anyway.
You have to pick a two hour window in which you want your groceries delivered, I chose Monday night between 6-8pm.  The driver called at 6:10 and said he'd be 10-15 minutes, and he was!  He carried in my four boxes of food and while he didn't put them away, he did stack the boxes nicely for me.
He went over the bill with me as it was my first delivery.  He took back with him the one thing I didn't want that they had substituted and within 2 hours I had an email telling me that I had a credit to my account.
If the same situations occurs again, I will not hesitate to use this service.

The nice big boxes the groceries come in!

Two Scrapbook Friends - Product Challenge.

The scrapping store that I frequent....frequently...has brought back their product challenge.  For the great price of $3.50 you get a little package of papers and some embellies.  You post your finished layout in their online gallery and you have a chance to win a $10.00 gift certificate to Two Scrapbook Friends store!

My submission for this month is posted in my gallery at Two Scrapbook Friends, but you can see it here too.  It's from the Brantford Zoo this summer.  I love that picture of the girls.  That is just how they are (usually, they, to have their moments).  They love to be together.  The picture of chubby has always made me smile, and I'm glad he's made it onto a layout.  It was a good day and deserved a page in their books.  I still need to do a page for O.  Her's will also have chubby on it!

Thanks to the product challenges, I completed nine extra pages that I'm sure I wouldn't have done last year!

Happy Birthday FIL!

Otherwise known as my father-in-law Dan Sr.

Thank you for showing my Dan how to be a great father.  I know that the father he is, he is because of you.

Thank you for showing my Dan how to be a great husband.  I know that the husband he is, he is because of you.

We wish we were there to celebrate your birthday with you!

The girls will be calling you soon!

Hello, 2011!

Generally, I make it a rule to never make resolutions.  This year I broke that rule and I am going to try to nag my spouse enough to start making some home repairs and to just pretty the place up a bit.  So far so good.  I have hated my front window for a long time, mainly because as soon as I'd put new blinds up, Jake would chew through the aluminum to make a hole for him to see out of.  If I remember to put them up a bit, he's usually fine, but if we are outside and he's not and he can't see us, he will make that damned hole.

So here is the before picture.  Don't mind the toys, we are still trying to find homes for everything!

The window missing the blind, he chewed so badly it wasn't even worth keeping up.

The after picture.  I really like it!  I think it gives a different feel to the place.  Jake can go up there and sit in the bay window all he wants.  I will leave them open a crack in the middle for him.  Plus they are machine washable, in case of his hair or Océane if she gets creative.
Next step, painting!
While we were putting the curtains up, Laura was busy playing away on Dan's DS.  The little girls were having so much fun.  They just went up and down the hall about a million times!

The only thing that stinks is we have a really nice curtain rod, but you can't even see it because of the overhang built in valance thing.  I think we could have gotten away with the cheap double 15.99 metal job.  Ah well, *I* know it's there, right?
